Seth Kennard, Principal
Seth Kennard joined Mountain View Elementary School as principal in the Summer of 2023. Prior to coming to MVES, Mr. Kennard served as the principal of Baker-Butler Elementary School in Albemarle County, and Charles Barrett Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia.
He is passionate about student engagement and ensuring that all students feel safe, joyful, valued, and appropriately challenged at school each day. He has extensive experience working with exceptional populations and English Language Learners. Seth collaborates with school staff to actively connect with all families and ensure that strong partnerships between school and home are formed and maintained.
Mr. Kennard lives in Albemarle County with his wife and their three school-aged children. He earned his bachelor’s degree from The University of Mary Washington, his master’s degree from The University of Virginia, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education from The University of Virginia.
Christine Peterson, Assistant Principal
Christine Peterson joined Mountain View Elementary as assistant principal in the Summer of 2023. Prior to coming to MVES, Ms. Peterson served as the assistant principal at Baker-Butler Elementary School in Albemarle County, assistant principal intern, instructional coach, literacy specialist, classroom teacher, and special education teacher at various elementary schools in ACPS since 2000.
Ms. Peterson lives in Albemarle County with her husband, son, daughter, and dog. She earned her bachelor's elementary and special education degree from SUNY Geneseo in New York, a master's degree from The University of Virginia, and a certificate in school administration from James Madison University.
STEPHANIE PROVINES, Assistant Principal
Stephanie Provines joined Mountain View Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year as an assistant principal. She actually started her teaching career at Mountain View as a 4th and 5th grade classroom teacher from 2009 until 2013. In the decade away from Mountain View, she was a talent development resource teacher, learning technology integrator, and most recently the assistant principal at Hollymead Elementary.
Ms. Provines, her husband, and their young daughter live in Albemarle County and enjoy getting outside with their dog as often as possible. Ms. Provines earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish and a Masters in teaching from the University of Virginia and remains a dedicated Virginia sports fan. She also holds a certificate in school administration from James Madison University.
